Hyderabad: A sub-inspector and police constable of the Hyderabad City Police have tested positive for Covid-19.
While senior police officials remain tight-lipped about a few other suspected cases, the instances of the these two have been confirmed.
“Efforts are on to identify their primary contacts. Their families have been asked to be under home quarantine and in all likelihood, they will be shifted to hospital later,” an official said.
Following the incident, policemen working at police stations in the North Zone were sent to hospital for tests on Friday and Saturday. The results are awaited.
On Wednesday night, Dayakar Reddy, a constable working at the Kulsumpura police station succumbed to Covid-19. Following this, several policemen working at the Kulsumpura station were sent for tests, with the results that have come in so far being negative.
Meanwhile City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Saturday visited the Kulsumpura station. A two-minute silence was observed from 12 noon as a mark of respect to Dayakar Reddy.
