Andhra Pradesh: MLC Anantha Babu, who is charged in the murder of Kakinada taxi driver Subrahmanyam, a case that caused a sensation in Andhra Pradesh, has been granted conditional release for three days by the SC and ST Court of Rajahmundry.
Anantha Babu’s mother Mangaratnam died away yesterday, and he was given the chance to take part in the burial rites, therefore the bail was granted on a bond of 25,000.
He was told not to leave Ellavaram for three days and to report back to Rajahmundry Central Jail by two o’clock in the afternoon on the 25th of this month.
The police were instructed by the court to stay with Anantha Babu, not bring up the incident elsewhere, and only leave for the burial. Anantha Babu was detained on May 23 and held in Rajamahendravaram Central Jail after reportedly killing driver Subrahmanyam in Kakinada on the evening of May 19.
The family members have expressed their concerns about the police failing to file a charge sheet in the murder investigation to the Human Rights Association. The Human Rights Commission reacted with orders, and five days ago, MLC Anantha Babu’s charge sheet was submitted to the court.
