The Commissioner’s Task Force (South) had a surprise when they raided house at Lalithabagh in old city. The raid was based on a tip-off that largescale preparation of adulterated ghee was going on in the house near the Lalithabagh Bridge. However, during the raid, the cops stumbled upon another illegal cache, one of liquor worth Rs.1 lakh.
The huge cache of liquor included several bottles of beer and whiskey bottles of different brands. The police suspect that the man had stocked it in the house fearing the authorities might close the recently opened liquor outlets again.
As for the ghee, police said the man was preparing adulterated ghee and packing the same in boxes before selling it under the brand name of Anand Masala. He was procuring cans of ghee from the market and later mixing other ingredients in the ghee before selling it again at higher prices. The GHMC officials were informed about the ghee and they have seized the adulteratud stuff.
The police have registered a case and are investigating whether the liquor too was for illegal sale.
