Hyderabad, June 22 (Hydnow): The High Court of Telangana has taken up the hearing on the petition to cancel the Group-1 Prelims. The petitioners stated that the non-collection of biometrics of candidates, the lack of hall tickets, and the photo on the OMR sheet are suspicious.

The High Court asked the TSPSC why there was no hall ticket number and photograph on the OMR sheet and why the biometrics of the candidates were not collected. The High Court expressed its anger as to why everything that was done in October was not done the second time.

The High Court questioned why key aspects of preventing malpractice in examinations were ignored. The counsel for the commission told the High Court that it is TSPSC’s discretionary power to decide how to arrange the examinations. TSPSC said that none of the candidates objected to the arrangements for Group-1 prelims and the photo on Biometric and OMR will cost around Rs. 1.50 crore.

While TSPSC stated that the invigilators verified the candidates through identity cards like Aadhaar, the High Court questioned whether it was TSPSC’s responsibility to make adequate arrangements for conducting the examination transparently, the issue of expenses was not important in the conduct of the examination and whether fees were charged from the candidates for conducting the examination. The High Court issued a notice to the TSPSC to file a counter within three weeks. (Hydnow)
