Hyderabad, Sept.11 (Maxim News): TRS senior leader Gutha Sukhender Reddy today took charge as Chairman of Telangana Legislative Council.
As expected, Reddy was elected unanimously as chairman of the Upper House as he was the only person to file nomination for the post. Ministers, MLAs and MLCs greeted him on the occasion. IT & Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao said his (Gutha) vast political experience would help develop the State. It is a rare coincidence that Gutha Sukhender Reddy took charge as Council chairman when the SRSP has received waters from Kaleshwaram project, he said.
Gutha Sukhender Reddy has been a non-controversial leader and has good relations with all. Any party he associated earlier, Reddy has been noted for maintaining cordial relations with others, KTR noted. “Including me, many other leaders might not have born when Sukhender Reddy entered politics”, KTR said. He exuded confidence that as chairman Sukhender Reddy would steer the Upper House for resolving State issues by conducting the House in a proper manner.
Gutha Sukender Reddy was born on February 2, 1954. In the 2009 elections, he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Nalgonda constituency in Telangana. He was appointed as Chairman of Telangana Rythu Samanvaya Samithi in February last year. He is one of the strongest leaders in South Telangana Region. He has great command in his parliamentary constituency.
Initially, he started his political career in Janata Party and later joined the TDP. In 2009, he joined the on the invitation of Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. In 2004, he contested from Nalgonda Assembly seat and lost due to negative wave against Chandrababu Naidu. He is from agriculture and landlord’s family. (Maxim News)
