Delhi/Hyderabad, Feb 29 (Hydnow): Center has given the green signal to the scheme to provide free electricity to crore families. The Cabinet on Thursday approved the Prime Minister-surya ghar Muft Bijli Yojana for installing rooftop solar to crore houses with a total cost of Rs. 75,021 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch this scheme on March 13.

The Center is promoting the use of solar power so that people are not burdened with electricity bills. a new scheme has been announced as part of this. In this scheme, huge subsidies have been announced for solar panel installers. Along with that, bank loans are also provided. The scheme offers a subsidy of Rs. 30,000 for a solar system producing 1 KW of electricity, Rs. 60,000 for a 2 KW system, and Rs. 78,000 for a solar system with a capacity of 3 KW or more.

Apply for this scheme through a national portal. Anyone who is an expert in the relevant field can be approached to install rooftop solar. 7 percent interest-free loans can be availed for home installation.

A model solar village will be developed in each district to illustrate the priority of the scheme. Prime Minister Modi had earlier said that the Center would ensure no cost burden on the people, from subsidized subsidies directly to people’s bank accounts to heavily subsidized bank loans.

Prime Minister Modi asked the public representatives and officials of urban local bodies, and panchayats to organize awareness sessions to convey the importance of the scheme. India aims to generate 500 gigawatts of renewable energy from the sun by 2030.

Neeraj Kuldeep, Senior Program Leader, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) said that the scheme will reduce the cost of energy and reduce the electricity burden on the people. (Hydnow)
