Hyderabad, July 22 (Hydnow) Due to the heavy rains for the last four days, large-scale flood water is entering many projects in the state. The projects got waterlogged due to heavy floods. As the inflow is coming in excess, the authorities are lifting the gates of the respective projects and releasing the water downstream.
On the other hand, the flood tide is high for the twin reservoirs in Hyderabad. Danger bells are ringing in Hussainsagar. The flood is raging in Hussainsagar at an extreme level. Hussainsagar is flooded from the upper areas due to incessant rains. a flood of 40 thousand cusecs is coming into Hussainsagar from Banjara Hills, Picket, and Kukatpally canals. The water level in Hussainsagar crosses the full tank level. The current water level of Hussainsagar is 513.62 meters. Presently the level is 513.41 meters. Officials are releasing 5800 cusecs of water from Hussainsagar to the dam through culverts. GHMC has alerted the people of the Musi catchment area. Also, Osman Sagar has a lot of inflows which were recorded as 800 cusecs. While the full water level of Osman Sagar is 1790 feet, the current water level has reached 1785.65 feet.
On the other hand, IMD has issued red alerts in many districts of Telangana. It is said that another low pressure will be formed on July 24. Heavy rains are likely for the next five days. The IMD has announced that there is a possibility of heavy rains in Bhadradri Kothagudem and Sangareddy Medak.
Flood continues to flow to the Musi project. Six gates are raised by two feet and the water is released downstream. Inflow is 5,849 cusecs and outflow is 7,759 cusecs. The full-scale capacity of the project is 645 feet. The current capacity has reached 642.10 ft. Also, the full water storage capacity is 4.46 TMC. The current water storage capacity is 3.70 TMC.
At Nizamabad, heavy flood is coming in the Sriramsagar project. Inflow is 1,49,995 cusecs. The project’s full water level is 1091 feet, 90 TMC. The current water level is recorded as 1079 feet, 49,968 TMC.
Flood continues for the Nizamsagar project. The project inflow was recorded at 34,588 cusecs. The full level of water was 1405.00 feet, but now it has reached 1393.75 feet. The full water storage capacity is currently recorded at 8.895 TMC as against 17,802 TMC. (Hydnow)
