Hyderabad, June 23 (Hydnow): Prof N R Bhanumurthy, University of Hyderabad (UoH) from Economics has joined as Vice Chancellor of Bengaluru Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) University.
N R Bhanumurthy is currently working as Professor at National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi. Prior to joining NIPFP, he worked as Assistant and Associate Professor at the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), Delhi. He has worked as a macroeconomist at UNESCAP, Bangkok and UNDP Regional Centre for Asia-Pacific region, Colombo. He has been a Visiting Fellow at Masion des Sciences d’la Homme, Paris, France, and at Mcgill University, Montreal, Canada. He has also been a consultant to ILO, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank. Currently, he is the Secretary of the Indian Econometric Society and Managing Trustee of Indian Economic Association Trust for Research and Development. He is also associated with Government committees. He has a Masters (1995) and M.Phil (1996) from the University of Hyderabad, and a Ph.D in international finance from the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore. A well-known policy columnist in major national dailies, Prof. Bhanumurthy has widely published in national and international journals. He has a number of commissioned policy papers to his credit.
BASE makes its presence felt in the country as one of the finest training institutions in Economics and competes with the best in the country. BASE will not only set a new model in teaching and research in economics but shall also assist the Government of Karnataka and Union Government of India in policy formulations, to inform them through research the effectiveness of the policies.
