Hyderabad: A 24-year-old man and his sister-in-law (18) died on the spot after an MMTS train hit them at a steep curve near Chandanagar railway station on Tuesday afternoon.

D. Manohar, a resident of Papireddy Nagar, and a driver of GHMC’s door-to-door garbage collection vehicle, was accompanying his mother Suryakala and sister-in-law Soni to help them board an MMTS train at Chandanagar to reach Secunderabad railway station. They were to board another train at Secunderabad railway station bound to Guntur district to meet their relatives.

Manohar and Soni were walking on the tracks while Suryakala was walking beside the tracks. On reaching near the curve, Manohar and Soni apparently did notice the MMTS train to jump out of the tracks.The train hit them and death was instant for both, the police said.

On coming to know about the incident, the Nampally government railway police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to the Gandhi hospital mortuary for conducting an autopsy.

The police are collecting more details from Suryakala to know the reasons behind incident.
