Hyderabad, July 18 (Hydnow): Taking a serious view at the sale of spurious seeds to farmers by some private dealers and distributors in Mulug district of the state, Telangana High Court said district and mandal agricultural officers concerned to collect the seeds being sold by the dealers and to send the same for testing to the concerned lab to ascertain the purity of such seeds. It asked them to submit report before the court within two weeks.
The HC has also issued Notices to the state government and the private seeds companies to respond on the issue. The Court passed this order while dealing with a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction to the state government to conduct enquiry into the sale and distribution of spurious seeds to farmers. Matter posted the July 27 of this month for further hearing.(Hydnow)
