Mumbai/Hyderabad, Sept 1 (Hydnow): The opposition I N D I A Alliance has expressed its anger over the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government to hold the Lok Sabha and legislative Assembly elections simultaneously. 

Modi’s government’s actions threaten the federal structure. It deplores how arbitrary decisions are taken by those who talk about democracy.

It is known that the leaders of 28 opposition parties, including Congress, JDU, NCP-Sharad Pawar faction, National conference, AAP, and TMC, met in Mumbai on Thursday and Friday.  A number of issues were discussed in the meeting of the I N D I A  Alliance leaders held on Friday.  They discussed facing the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.  The leaders discussed seat adjustments in the elections.  It seems that coordination committees and sub-coordination committees are going to be formed.

Leaders of this alliance have expressed outrage at the idea of holding elections one country at a time.  It is alleged that this will damage the federal structure of the country.  CPI leader d. Raja said that Prime Minister Modi always says that India is the mother of democracy and questioned how he can take a unilateral decision without consulting other political parties.  

Shiv Sena-UBT leader Sanjay Raut said that the country is already one and no one is questioning it.  They want the elections in the country to be fair.  He said that one country does not want one-time elections. He said that the issue of one nation-at-a-time election was raised to divert people’s attention from their demand. 

The alliance passed a resolution congratulating the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on the success of Chandrayaan-3.  It is said that the ISRO’s achievements are a source of pride for the nation and congratulations to all those who have worked and are working in that organization.  ISRO said it took six decades to build, expand, and strengthen its capabilities.  Chandrayaan-3 has stunned the world.  It is said that the world is eagerly waiting for the launch of L-1 and hopes that the extraordinary achievements of ISRO will strengthen the scientific outlook in society and inspire the youth in the fields of science and technology.

Sanjay Raut said about the logo of the I N D I A alliance that it is very important and will be discussed in the meeting and a decision will be taken.  It is not being released on Friday. 

Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge asked each party to nominate a leader to be part of the coordination committee.  TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee said that the manifesto should be prepared by October 2.  AAP  Chief Arvind Kejriwal said that the distribution of Lok Sabha seats should be completed by the end of next month. 

Among those who participated in these meetings are Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge, Party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Raghul Gandhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena-UBT Chief Uddhav Thackeray,  AAP Chief Kejriwal, RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, DMK President MK Stalin, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary, National conference Leaders Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury, CPI leader D. Raja, CPML leader Dipankar Bhattacharya and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav were present.  (Hydnow)
