Minister for Forests and Environment Allola Indrakaran Reddy on Wednesday said Telangana State was making rapid strides in production of paddy.
Speaking after inaugurating a paddy procurement centre at Parimandal village in Nirmal mandal, Indrakaran Reddy said the State, within a short period of time since its formation, had turned into the ‘Rice Bowl of India.” He attributed the phenomenon to better irrigation facilities created by the government in the last six years. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s dream to irrigate one crore acres will be realized and farming would become a profitable sector soon,” he said.
Stating that steps were being taken to procure paddy in the district, he said sufficient gunny bags and storage facilities have been created. He stated that Nirmal was becoming one of the largest producers of paddy in Telangana.
He requested farmers to practice physical distance when selling their produce and instructed authorities of marketing department to avoid inconvenience to growers at the time of procuring the grains.
Farmer Agriculture Coordination Society (FACS) coordinator N Venkatrami Reddy, district agriculture officer Anji Prasad, district library chairman E Rajender, Nirmal Mandal Parishad President Rameshwar Reddy, Nirmal town TRS president M Ramu were present.
