Telangana High Court Gets 3 New Judges

Hyderabad, July 15 (Hydnow): The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the Central government appoint three judges to the Telangana High Court. It includes Lakshminarayana Alishetty, Anil Kumar Jukanti from the Advocate quota, and Sujana Kalasikam from the Judges quota.

A collegium consisting of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sanjeev Khanna, which met under the leadership of Chief Justice, Justice D.Y Chandrachud on July 12 of this month, took a decision to this extent. The Collegium released a statement on Friday evening. “The Chief Justice of Telangana High Court proposed the names of the two selected from the quota of advocates on December 22, 2022, after consulting with the two senior judges there. The Magistrate recommended the name selected in the quota on October 23 of the same year. The State Governor and Chief Minister also gave their approval to these names.

Lakshmi Narayana has 26 years of legal experience. Anil Kumar has 20 years of experience. Lakshminarayana has expertise in arbitration. Writ, Civil, and Commercial Litigation cases. Anil Kumar has expertise in taxation. He argued civil, criminal, service law, and constitutional cases.

While examining the name of Justice Sujana, we have taken into consideration the fact that the names of some senior judicial officers were not recommended by the High Court. We have considered the reasons given by the High Court collegium for not recommending the names of seniors than her and agree with them.

Collegium explained that after collecting the view of fellow judges in the Supreme Court who are knowledgeable about Telangana issues, Advocates Lakshminarayana Alishetty, Anik Kumar Jukanti, and lawyer Sujana Kalasikam are suitable for appointment as High Court judges. There are presently 25 judges working in the Telangana High Court, which should have a total of 49 judges. The number of women judges is eight. If the Center approves the appointment of the new judges, the total number of judges will go up to 28 and the number of women judges will go up to 9.

Suzana Kalasikam was born on March 10, 1970, to Madhusudan and Pramila from Aleru in the Bhuvanagiri district of Yadadri. enrolled in the Bar Council in 1997. She was selected as the Junior Civil Judge in 2010. She wrote the District Judge Examination in 2012 while continuing as a Junior Civil judge. Served as Additional District Judge of Karimnagar. District Judge of Nizamabad, Chief Judge of Small Causes Court of Hyderabad City Civil Court, and Director of Judicial Academy. She has been working as the Registrar General of the High Court for a year.

Lakshminarayana Alishetty was born on May 13, 1968, to Gangadhar, a principal, and Rajubai in Mendora, Baikonda Mandal, Nizamabad district. He completed his degree in Nizamabad and graduated in law from Kakatiya University. He was admitted to the Bar Council in 1994. Expertise in Constitution and Civil Law, Standing Council for National Highways Development Authority, NBCC, and various banks. (Hydnow)
