Hyderabad, Aug.21 (Hydnow): Telangana occupied third position in cotton production in India after Gujrat and Maharashtra, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said.

With 21 percent cotton production our state has clinched third place in the country he claimed.

He held a meeting with Ginning mills managements and officials on cotton production, marketing, and MSP. The minister said that the government will provide MSP to farmers for adopting regulatory faming in the state.

He asked CCI officials to purchase total cotton produce as the government offers MSP Rs 5825 per quintal which is mire than open market. While seed value us Rs 2500 cr cotton production value is Rs 68000 cr and the crop is being grown in rainy season in 58.69 lakh acres.

Niranjan Reddy instructed to shift old cotton bales to accommodate new production in godown facilities in the state. The minister asked CCI to take GST issue of Ginning mills to the centre for a solution. CCI has bought 21 lakh metric tons of cotton last year and will purchase total crop this year, its CMD Pradip Kumar Agarwal said. (Hydnow)
