Hyderabad, June 11 (Hydnow): Tconsult, the Telemedicine services started in Telangana State supported by Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) offered 10,000 free virtual doctor consultations so far since its launch. Now, the effort will be to bring more specialists into the fold to cater this services more people.

Within Telangana, the service was first launched in Makthal mandal of Narayanpet district. It later was launched in Mulugu, Warangal, Karimnagar and Medak as well. Among others, the app has come handy to the scores of police personnel and their families. The app has also been used by NRIs.

Speaking on the occasion of the telemedicine app reaching the 10,000 consultations milestone, TITA Global President Sundeep Kumar Makthala said the app has come helped many people to access speciality doctor medical advice including e-Prescription without having to step out of their houses in pandemic situations.

The service has come handy particularly in rural areas where people have to spend more time and resources to reach a medical facility due to the distance factor. Some NRIs staying in France, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico and Uruguay too accessed the medical advice through Tconsult.

The service was first launched on a pilot basis in Makthal Mandal. Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, who formally inaugurated Tconsult, had onboarded 40 doctors from JIMS Hospital.

IT Minister K T Rama Rao lauded TITA’s effort to offer telemedicine facilities. Health Minister Eatala Rajender had personally launched the facility for Karimnagar District. IT Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan had written to all District Collectors recommending implementation of Tconsult. Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissioners Sajjanar and Mahesh Bhagawat have allowed the facility to be used by police personnel. TITA Prez Makthala thanked the Ministers, higher officials and the police department for aiding in the growth of the teleconsultations platform.

Makthala said feedback from various quarters will be used to improve the service. The app already has been revamped. He said that some doctors have expressed that they cannot continue to offer the services free of cost. Based on this feedback, an appropriate revenue model will be evolved in days to come; he said adding that the fee for the consultations will be integrated with Telangana Government’s T-Wallet payment gateways.

The platform has aided in reducing the time and distance barriers for visiting the doctors. More specialists will be empanelled with Tconsult shortly, he said. He also thanked the volunteer groups who have been part of the Tconsult telemedicine journey. (Hydnow)
