Hyderabad, Aug 8 (Hydnow): The High Court of Telangana has issued notices to the Principal Secretary to Education, Telangana Council of Higher Education, School Secondary Board Commissioner, and Intermediate Board Commissioner on the issue of students committing suicides above the age of 15 years.
The High Court ordered to submit the complete details of how many students have committed suicide and the next hearing was adjourned for three weeks.
A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the High Court on student suicides in Telangana State. Lawyer Shankar has filed this pill saying that Tenth and Inter students are committing suicide every year in the state.
In the plea, the lawyer stated that the government is not taking any measures to prevent suicides and the helpline center number should be given on every exam hall ticket.
Petitioner’s lawyer Praveen Kumar asked the court to put a syllabus in the 10th class test book and to make them aware of the circumstances of the family who committed suicide. He said that even though the government had launched a program called Roshini in the past, it was of no use. The High Court heard the Public Interest Litigation and issued notice to each of the concerned education departments. (Hydnow)
