Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, on Monday, urged the students of Government Medical College of Suryapet, to keep it in mind that people of the area were expecting improved medical services from the new medical college and they must strive to meet people’s aspirations.

He was the chief guest for the Freshers’ Day celebrations of Suryapet Government Medical College. Reddy said the State government had started the classes of first year batch of MBBS in the medical college overcoming many hurdles so that more students could take up medical studies.

He said 150 students had been given admissions in medicine course at Suryapet, this academic year. He appreciated the first batch of students for naming themselves “Feronians” and asked them to bring good reputation to the college by excelling in the acadmics.

He also extorted the faculty of the college to extend value-based education to students, who would extend health services to the people in future. He also asked them to bring to his notice, if they faced any problems.

Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP, said Suryapet district had got the medical college due to the efforts made by Energy Minister, who represented Suryapet Assembly constituency. Reddy would get a special mention in the history of Suryapet for it, he added. He said the government planned to extend super specialty services to the people of the district through the medical college.

Principal of the college Sharadha said she would make sure the college becomes No 1 college in the State. Superintendent of Government Hospital Muralidhar Reddy and faculty of the college also attended the programme.
