With two persons testing positive for Covid-19 in Shakti Nagar locality in Mahabubnagar town and Amisthapur village of Bhootpur mandal, Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud inspected the two villages on Sunday, in addition to visiting Vepur village of Hanwada mandal, where a person who was admitted to Osmania General Hospital tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.

Srinivas Goud monitored the sanitization and other lockdown measures that were taken up by the district administration to contain the spread of the virus in those localities. He said that self-discipline and self-isolation were the only tools available with the people to protect themselves from coronavirus.

As migrant workers were returning to the district in large numbers, he instructed officials to keep a track of who were entering villages and the monitoring mechanism to contain the spread of Covid-19 in rural areas.

He appealed to the people to follow physical distancing while waiting in queues at grocery stores, banks, medical shops and other establishments and instructed officials to take stern action against those who violate lockdown rules.

At Vepur, he observed that 250 migrant workers had returned to the village from Mumbai and that there was no tracking of how the virus was transmitted to a person in the village, who was currently being treated at Gandhi Hospital for Covid-19. He instructed the officials concerned to determine how the virus spread in the village and also asked medical and health officials to carry out regular medical check-up and refer those having coronavirus symptoms to Hyderabad for testing whenever suspected cases come up. He also asked the officials to take details of people who visit the RMP doctor in the village for various health reasons in recent times, especially those who had returned to the village after February.

He also inaugurated a mobile Rythu Bazaar at Shiva Shakti Nagar and has assured the people that vegetables and other essential commodities would be delivered to them in their localities and that they had no reason to commute to buy essential commodities in these challenging times.
