Hyderabad, Aug.1 (Hydnow): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief A. Revanth Reddy conveyed Bonalu festival greetings to the people of the state today.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that he was extending special greetings to all the women who carry the bonam. Talking about Lal Darwaza bonalu, he said that the Lal Darwaza bonalu was a symbol of communal harmony. He said that the then Nizam ruler presented gold ring to the presiding Mahankali deity at Lal Darwaza temple when cholera pandemic hit Hyderabad princely Staten during his rule.
He also said that the Nizam ruler had taken the blessings of the presiding deity when the Hyderabad state was hit by unprecedented floods hundred years back. He called upon the Hindu and Muslims to celebrate the festival together and show their communal harmony to the entire world. He said that the Organization of the Lal Darwaza bonalu in the separate state of Telangana was due to the blessings of the congress party president Sonia Gandhi. (Hydnow)
