Revanth Reddy Made Remarks on Free Power

Revanth Will Go To Delhi On Dec. 19

Hyderabad: TPCC Chief A. Revanth Reddy sparked outrage with his remarks during a press conference. Reddy’s statement, claiming that farmers do not require a 24-hour free supply of electricity, has triggered a strong response from the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), leading to a two-day state-wide protest against the TPCC chief.

Interestingly, Reddy made these remarks while addressing a meeting organized by the NRI wing of the Congress party in the United States. A video capturing his speech has since gone viral on social media, intensifying the controversy. In the video, Reddy can be heard stating that a majority of Telangana’s farmers possess landholdings of less than 3 acres, suggesting that one hour of electricity is sufficient to irrigate one acre. He further asserted that three hours of power supply would be enough to irrigate the entire three acres, implying that eight hours of free power supply is adequate.

Moreover, Reddy accused Telangana Chief Minister KCR of using the idea of a free power supply to farmers for his own political gains and personal interests. He alleged that KCR’s motives were driven by deception and a desire for financial gain. Reddy called for a rational discussion on the topic of free power supply, questioning its viability.
