Dammaiguda: Once again Jawahar Nagar dump yard is in spotlight for its wretched condition as the inhabitants are spending restless evenings because of the foul smell. As per local people the air, soil and groundwater had been contaminated because of the adjoining dump yard and they request a perpetual arrangement.
“Three days back I have seen leachate (which is an oily substance) overflowing out from the landfill yard and downpours are making more issues and the odor is intolerable. Additionally, the lake neighboring the landfill yard is sullied, said B V Seshagiri, a Socio-political activist.
N Venkata Subba Rao, an occupant of Dammaiguda said, “We are compelled to close our entryways and windows because of the foul smell and these issues have been experiencing us for longer than 10 years at this point and smoke exuding from the landfill yard which is additionally horrible.
There is no perpetual arrangement given to this issue, this is a high time in any event now the concerned authorities should accompany a lasting answer for offer help to the occupants.”
“Because of the downpours the circumstance has gotten more terrible, we are dealing with a similar issue each storm. The landfill yard has arrived at its edge and there is no answer for it. As the existence of local people has become deteriorated due to the landfill yard and in any event now the State government should improve the personal satisfaction of inhabitants living here”, said T Rahul, occupant of Dammaiguda.
On state of secrecy, an authority of Jawahar Nagar Municipal Corporation said, “Clearly the landfill yards would radiate foul smell. Anyway because of the storm smell expanded and we are before long going to take care of the issue.”
