In October 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Gati Shakthi Master Plan to execute works for development and strengthening of the national Highways network in the country. In addition to these, housing for poor, provision of basic amenities, rapid construction activities in rural areas along with urban areas, there will be heavy deman for cement in the days to come as per the expectations of ICRA, CRISIL and cement manufacturers, the Minister said.

At present, India is ranked second in cement production and if more cement manufacturing unit are set up, then the country would emerge as leading producer of cement. It can export cement to Middle East and African countries.

Despite all these advantages and requirements, Central Government was sitting on the requests to reopen the CCI unit at Adilabad since long, he informed.

“If the Central Government was prepared to reopen the CCI unit at Adilabad, Telangana government would offer all benefits being extended to new units,” said Rama Rao.

The State Government was relentlessly trying to get the CCI unit reopened. The issue has been brought to the notice of Union Minister’s Ananth Geethe and Mahendra Nath Pandey several times, he reminded.

Despite repeated pleas to take a positive decision regarding reopening of CCI unit, there was no response so far, he said.

At a time, when the private sector was expanding its operations on fast pace and Telangana Government extending all support, Central Government’s steps not to reopen the CCI unit at Adilabad, would amount injustice to Telangana youth, especially those in the backward district of Adilabad, he said.
