HYDERABAD: A real estate businessman, Mohammed Ilyas, from Balapur, who had been missing since Saturday, was found dead at Quba Colony on Subday morning.
He was found with multiple stab wounds and his throat was also slit. Police said they suspect that Ilyas was murdered and added that a financial dispute between victim and his business partner is suspected to be the motive.
Balapur police said that Mohammed Ilyas, 42, had been doing real estate business in partnership with MohsSIN Awaldi.On Saturday, around noon, Mohsin visited the Ilyas’ residence and they both left the house. Later Ilyas family members found that his mobile phone was switched off.
Subsequently, the family lodged a missing complaint at Balapur police station.
On Sunday morning, locals in Quba colony found a body with the throat slit and stab injuries and alerted Pahadishareef police station. The locals identified the victim as Ilyas.
Based on the information given by victim’s family, Ilyas had a dispute with Mohsin, to whom Ilyas had given Rs 20 lakh in the past.
“Mohsin told Ilyas that he cannot return the money that had been loaned to him by Ilyas and as a compensation to that Mohsin was prepared to give land to him. But Ilyas rejected the offer. Since that disagreement, there had been friction between Ilyas and Mohsin on this issue,” the victim’s family members said.
According to police, Ilyas’ body was found in an open plot. After this, the police registered a case under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code.
The victim is a resident of Jahanuma in Teegalkunta. The suspect, Mohsin, is from Shaheen Nagar.
The suspect has also allegedly taken away the victim’s two-wheeler along with different land documents. He was taken into custody by the police and investigation is under way.
