Hyderabad, June 28 (Hydnow): Outgoing Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday said that former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao is the greatest son of Telangana.
Addressing the concluding program of PV Narasimha Rao Birth Centenary Celebrations at Gandhi Bhavan, he said that the path breaking land reforms brought by PV Narasimha Rao, when he was Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, have empowered Daliths and Tribals of Telangana. PV Narasimha Rao would be remembered for his path breaking land reforms by the country.
“The leaders who are in the power today lie to the weaker sections on land distribution. But the Land Ceiling Act being brought PV have ensured distribution of laksh of acres land to the landless Tribals and Daliths of Telangana,” he said.
Reddy said that PV Narasimha Rao was also greatest son of India as the financial reforms brought by him in the country with the help of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have changed the financial structure of the country. He said that due to the economic reforms introduced by PV, India became super power in the world.
He said that PV Narasimha Rao was a freedom fighter and he rose from grass root level Congress worker to the level of Prime Minister of India. Uttam said that PV was PCC president of Andhra Pradesh Congress, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and held several significant portfolios in Union Government.
Recalling his personal association with PV Narasimha Rao, Uttam said that he has the privilege of travelling along with PV several times when he was working in the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. He said that he has listened to PV’s views on several issues. (Hydnow)
