Hyderabad: Mired in a controversy over leaked audio clips, alleged to be his conversation with a woman, Chairman of Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC), Prudhvi Raj resigned from his post on Sunday. The audio clips allegedly portrayed Prudhvi Raj engaging in an intimate conversation with a woman staffer of SVBC, which is spiritual channel of TTD. Speaking to presspersons here in the evening, Prudhvi Raj refuted the charges and said the voice was not his and sought an enquiry into the entire episode.

“I will join back only after the vigilance report in the matter is submitted,” he said. “There is a big conspiracy behind the matter. A fake voice was created to defame and malign my image”, he said. Stating he was ready to submit himself for a medical investigation, Prudhvi Raj said doctors can check if he had consumed alcohol in recent times. “I quit alcohol long time ago and if proved guilty of the charges, I am ready to face any action”, he added. Prudhvi Raj also said there was not even a single complaint against him from any of the 270 SVBC employees since he took charge as chairman.

Meanwhile, a TTD spokesman said the TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy ordered a vigilance probe into the incident and asked for the audio tape to be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). When the matter was brought to the notice of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, he asked for the resignation of Prudhvi Raj, the spokesman added.
