Peddapalli: The body of a 56-year-old man, Balasani Mallesham was found at the railway tracks near Basanthnagar rail-over Bridge. Police suspect that Mallesham had committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train.
According to police, Mallesham, a native of Eesalathakkallapalli of Palakurthi mandal, along with family members went to picnic to Bugga Ramaswamy temple, located very near to the suicide spot, on Sunday. In the evening, Mallesham sent other family members to home informing them that he would come home later. But after he failed to return home later in the night, family members lodged a complaint with Basanthnagar police.
The police, who began investigation by registering the case, found the whereabouts of the deceased with the help of mobile phone signals. Mallesham was found dead on the railway track when the police reached the spot on Monday morning. The Railway police registered the case and the body was shifted to Godavarikhani government hospital for postmortem.
