Over 2 Lakh Pilgrims Finish Amarnath Yatra in 20 Days

Srinagar, July 20: Over 2 lakh pilgrims finished the Amarnath Yatra in 20 days, with a new batch of 4,355 departing Jammu for the Valley on Wednesday.

A further 4,355 pilgrims departed Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu today in two escorted convoys for the Valley, according to Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) officials, who oversee the yearly pilgrimage to the Himalayan cave shrine located 3,888 meters above sea level (Wednesday). 1,846 Yatris will travel to Baltal, and 2,509 will travel to the Pahalgam base camp.

2,07,679 pilgrims have participated in the yatra since it began on June 30 this year, and 13,226 of them paid respects at the cave sanctuary on Tuesday.

Those taking the conventional Pahalgam path must go 48 km over the course of four days, whilst those taking the Baltal way must hike just 14 km.

The pilgrims can also use helicopter services on both routes.

The Amarnath Yatra of 2022 began on June 30 and will conclude after 43 days on August 11 during the festival of Raksha Bandhan and Shravan Purnima.
