Hyderabad, Dec.18 (Hydnow): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today stressed the need for protecting environment for the posterity. Instead of focusing on the key issue of environment and rivers protection, national politics are talking something else, he deplored.
Speaking at a DPR preparation program of Krishna and Godavari riparian areas’ rejuvenation in the State, the minister appealed to the people and officials to strive to protect environment. He suggested detailed protect report (DPR) on protecting the two rivers in the State. The State government has plans to take effective measures in this regard, he said and asked people to support the related schemes. It is the responsibility of all to protect the environment from pollution and discourage plastic use, Reddy added.
Expressing concern ever increasing temperatures, the minister said water availability was decreasing and environment was being polluted. “Instead of focusing on the crucial issue, we are talking something else”, he said, adding that the problem was becoming a big challenge at the national level.
