Hyderabad, Aug.23 (Hydnow): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today launched 23 Vijaya products in the state and appealed to people to use them.

At a program here at Tourist Plaza the minister launched the Vijaya products with Oilfed Chairman Rmakrishna Reddy and Horticulture MD Venkatram Reddy and officials here.

The Minister said that the country spends Rs 80000 cr to import oils required for people. We import 15 million tons of oil as we can produce only 7 million tons in the country against 22 million tons requirements.

Niranjan Reddy asked the people to make use of Vijaya brand products for purity and quality. The government encourages oil palm production to increase oil production, he said. The Centre is also giving subsidies for oil palm production across the country, he said.

The Minister informed that state government will encourage the farmers for oil palm farming and production

He said that the state is cultivating oil palm crops in about 48806 acres and supporting the farmers.
The government already created awareness to farmers and local leaders on palm oil production, he said. We aim to produce oil pal crops in about 8 lakhs of acres in the state of Telangana, he said.

We have the right to get pure air and food grains and oils and efforts are in that direction by our government, the minister said. He said that pure water is offered to villages and put an end to 70 percent of diseases in the rural areas. This became possible through the Mission Bhagiratha program, he said.

The Minister further stated that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to push farmers to grow oil palm and reduce dependency on oil imports. (Hydnow)
