Endowments Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said government was implementing a new agriculture policy for the welfare of agrarian community. He was presiding over at an awareness programme on regulatory crop pattern in Vaanakalam held here on Sunday.
Indrakaran Reddy said that the district administration should motivate farmers to adopt regulatory farming. He stated that the government was giving paramount importance to agriculture sector. He cited quality power supply to this sector and implementation of Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima schemes. He added that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao extended a helping hand to farmers by waiving crop loans.
The Minister opined that the Rythu Bandhu scheme was not scrapped as criticised by opposition parties. He said that cases were being booked against the traders of spurious seeds. He informed that seeds of soya crops were kept ready to farmers in view of shortage of cotton seeds. Reddy stated that Cotton Corporation of India had taken up procurement of 1 crore bales of cotton.

Minister said that State government had not stopped a single welfare scheme even as Centre did not extend support to Telangana in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic. He requested the public to practice physical distance and to stay home for stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus. He urged them to wear face masks and to step out only in case of emergencies.
Indrakaran Reddy, earlier, said that check dams would help agriculture sector flourish. He laid foundation stone to a check dam across Swarna stream in Sarangapur mandal of Nirmal district. The estimated cost of the check dam is Rs 4.4 crore.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson Rathod Janardhan, Collector A Sridevasena, Rythu Bandhu Samiti Coordinator Bojareddy, DCCB Chairman Namdev, District Libraries Chairman Manohar, ZP Chief Executive Officer Kishan and former DCCB chairman Ramkishan Reddy were present.
