Hyderabad: A degree student who was reported missing from her house on Monday was found murdered near railway tracks in Alwal here on Tuesday morning.
The victim is suspected to have been strangled to death by one of her friends, Deepak, with whom she is believed to have been in a relationship, police said.
A resident of Old Alwal, the girl was studying degree second year in a private degree college.
According to the police, she left home yesterday informing her mother that she was going out on some work. However, when she did not return home even till night, her mother started enquiring and tried calling her mobile phone, but in vain.
She approached the Alwal police and lodged a complaint, following which a case of missing was booked.
The police as part of their investigation started searching for the girl and picked up few of her friends, including Deepak for questioning. Police said Deepak confessed of having been in a relationship with the girl for some time and he had killed her over past issues and dumped her body near the railway tracks.
“They are suspected to have been in a relationship and he was avoiding her for last few days. When she questioned and asked about their marriage, he strangulated her with a dupatta and tried to stage it as a suicide,” said an official adding that further investigation is in process and all possible angles were being investigated.
The missing case has been altered with charges of kidnap and murder and the body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital for an autopsy.
