Minister KTR Slams Centre For Asking States to Reduce VAT on Fuel

Hyderabad, May 23 (Hydnow): IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao today slammed the Centre for asking the States to reduce VAT (Value Added Tax) on fuel. He demanded the Narendra Modi government to scrap the fuel cess and to bring prices down to 2014 levels.

He was reacting to the Centre’s move to slash the excise duty on petrol and diesel and the subsequent demands by the opposition in the State that the Telangana government also cut Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel to ease the burden on common man.

Stating that the union government is responsible for rising fuel prices in the country, KTR further advised that if the ‘cess’ was scrapped, fuel prices would automatically fall down to the prices prevailing in 2014. (Hydnow)
