Hyderabad, July 17 (Hydnow): Union Minister for Tourism G. Kishan Reddy today took part in the Sri Ujjaini Mahankali temple bonalu festival and offered prayers at the temple along with his family members. He also presented a bonam to the presiding deity on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Kishan Reddy extended bonalu greetings to the Hindu community. He told media persons he prayed to the presiding deity to show mercy on the people, who are suffering due to the recent floods. He said the Bonalu had also been held in the historic Golconda and added that they had been held in the City for a long time as a tradition while noting that a festival like bonalu is not seen anywhere in the entire country.
The Union minister said the poor and the rich take part in the bonalu festival and added that he also prayed for the prevention of seasonal diseases and problems to the people. He also prayed to the deity to ward off natural calamities and disasters in the State besides curbing the deadly coronavirus. (Hydnow)
