Hyderabad: Shaik Rahman, a photography professor at Jawarhalal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) died of Covid while undergoing treatment at NIMS-Hyderabad on Tuesday. He was 54 and had two sons.
Rahman contracted the disease around a fortnight back. He was initially admitted to a private hospital. He was then rushed to NIMS on Monday as his medical condition got deteriorated.
A passionate photographer, he joined the College of Fine Arts, a unit of JNAFAU as an assistant professor in 1992. He was the head of the department of photography and had serviced as registrar of the university. He was the director of academic and planning wing of the institution. Final rites of the professor were performed in the evening.
Prof Kamal Roy, one of the colleagues told media that Rahman was an affable teacher and used to be supportive to his students. He recounted accounts with him. He opined that demise of the professor was a loss to the institution and students of photography. He expressed condolences to Rahman’s family members.
