Hyderabad, Sept 15 (Hydnow): The Telangana TDP Vice President and Business tycoon,  Ali Bin Ibrahim Masqati, known as Ali Masqati, is set to make a significant political move by joining the Congress party and may potentially contest as the Congress candidate.  He is likely to join before the AICC leader Sonia Gandhi who is visiting Hyderabad on September 17. 

Keeping in view that the Congress party has geared up to give a tough fight against the ruling BRS party of Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao and expressing confidence that the Congress party will come to power in the state in the next elections, as part of this, the Congress party has escalated activity to gain the support of prominent leaders from the region, the political activity increased in Hyderabad city and its Assembly segments.

The late Ibrahim Bin Abdullah Masqati, the esteemed patriarch of the Masqati family who sadly passed away in 2015, was previously elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly representing the MIM party.  Subsequently, he transitioned to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2002 and went on to serve as a Member of the Legislative Council, assuming the role of Chairman of the Urdu Academy.

Now, his son, Ali bin Ibrahim Masqati, who currently holds the position of State Vice-President within the Telangana TDP,  is in the intention to contest in the upcoming assembly elections from any of the segments in the Hyderabad Old City, particularly the Charminar Constituency.  Sources suggest that Ali Masqati is expected to formally join the Congress party on September 17, in the presence of Sonia Gandhi.

It’s worth noting that the Masqati family holds a prominent status in the State, recognized as prominent dairy farmers and business figures. Their influence is particularly noteworthy in the Old City. (Hydnow)
