Nirmal: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy lashed out at Centre and said that it was showing a stubborn attitude towards farmers’ community. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a paddy procurement centre in Soan mandal centre on Sunday.
Indrakaran said the State government introduced a slew of innovative schemes for the welfare of the agrarian community.
He cited Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Beema and round-the-clock power supply besides the creation of irrigation projects. He opined that the irrigation projects resulted in the prosperity of the agriculture sector of Telangana.
The Minister said that the farmers were unable to sell their produce due to the Union government’s stubborn attitude. He charged that the Centre was irresponsible and refusing to procure paddy.
He recalled that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had spoken to top leaders of the Union government, but they were not concerned for the agrarian community.
Indrakaran Reddy further said that FCI expressed its inability to procure paddy claiming that it had sufficient grains for four more years. He requested the Union government to understand the situation of the hapless farmers.
He advised the farmers to go for alternative crops instead of paddy. He suggested groundnut, sunflowers, soya and some other commercial crops.
