To ensure there is a steady supply of raw materials needed to take up research in developing anti-viral drugs for Covid-19 disease, the Hyderabad-based Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) is collaborating with Carbanio, which is regarded as the country’s largest online marketplace to buy chemicals.
The Hyderabad-based online platform Carbanio is involved in sale of high demand chemicals including Hydroxychloroquine and Favipiravir intermediaries, which are under research across the world with respect to Covid-19 disease.
Researchers at IICT said that its Research and Development (R&D) on re-purposing of drugs such as Favipiravir, Remdesivir and Hydroxychloroquine, as anti COVID-19 solutions in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies was facilitated with unhindered supply chain of raw materials by Carbanio during the lockdown period.
IICT Director Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar said that Carbanio, which was founded by Dr. S Rafi, extended timely support and met the demand of all raw materials and the key building blocks as per the custom requirements of the researchers.
The scientists working in various Covid-19 projects at IICT said that it was important for the online digital platform to ensure sourcing of the chemicals, which is the key to meet timely milestone deliverables of projects. The premier chemical laboratory said that it is interested to collaborate with Carbanio for their chemical requirements.
Carbanio has a strong customer base across India and is recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India. It has over 51 lakh chemical products from sellers across India and also offers unused chemicals for free to research institutions that quench the costs and help make R & D more affordable.
