Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police, in order to ensure a smooth Ganesh immersion on Sunday, will impose traffic restrictions throughout the procession route.

The restrictions will be in place from Saturday night and continue till Monday morning hours till culmination of the procession.

The police will monitor the traffic with the help of Google Maps to avoid traffic snarls.

The main procession will start from Keshavagiri via Charminar to Tank Bund or NTR Marg.

Vehicles other than those carrying Ganesh idols will be diverted at several points in addition to the main procession route. Only vehicles carrying Ganesh idols will be allowed from Malakpet, Amberpet, Secunderabad, Charminar, Mehdipatnam, Masab Tank and Ameerpet side towards the Tank Bund with a few exceptions on certain routes depending upon the flow of vehicles carrying the Ganesh idols.

The police have issued colour coded stickers based on which the route to be taken for the vehicles carrying the idols was decided earlier.

The traffic police advised commuters to take alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion. During the peak hours of the procession, city buses and those bound for districts will ply on certain routes or will be diverted.
