Hyderabad: Nearly 150 healthcare professionals from city tertiary teaching hospitals including Osmania General Hospital and Gandhi Hospital have tested Covid-19 positive and are in isolation.
Due to the rapid transmission of the Covid-19 infections driven by the Omicron variant, a relatively larger number of healthcare workers, when compared to the earlier Delta wave, have tested positive. The healthcare professionals who tested Covid positive included doctors, house surgeons, resident doctors and MBBS students. Despite higher positivity, so far none of the healthcare workers have been hospitalised, officials said.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, a total of 80 care givers at OGH had tested positive while on Thursday another 20 had tested positive for Covid-19. “There are no hospital admissions among the healthcare workers. We are tracking their health status and all of them are in stable condition,” OGH, Superintendent, Dr B Nagender said.
At Gandhi Hospital, a total of 48 care givers including doctors, PG students, resident doctors and MBBS doctors have tested positive for Covid. The hospital authorities said that all the Covid positive health care workers are stable and do not need hospitalisation.
