A constable working at the Kulsumpura police station died last night at Gandhi Hospital, reportedly due to COVID-19.
Though an official confirmation is yet to come, police sources said the constable was admitted to Gandhi Hospital after he showed symptoms of COVID-19. While undergoing treatment, he died last night.
The constable was manning the check-post at Puranapul junction for 15 days before being shifted to regular duties. The officials suspect he might have contacted the virus during his check-post duty.
Following the incident, policemen at the Kulsumpura police station with whom the patient was suspected to have come in contact were sent to quarantine as a precautionary measure.
