Hyderabad: After quite a hot and sunny week, several parts of Hyderabad received heavy rainfall on Saturday evening.
The sudden showers, which took commuters on the road by surprise, also triggered traffic jams in some areas, with waterlogging being reported on several thoroughfares. There was slow movement of traffic from the Taj Krishna side towards Masab Tank, from Paradise Junction via Ranigunj and from SD Eye Hospital towards Masab Tank. Some of the routes in the IT Hub and near Gachibowli too reported traffic snarls after the rains.
Heavy rain was reported in areas including Ramachandrapuram, Lingampally, Vijaynagar Colony area in Mehdipatnam, BHEL and Madhapur among other areas. Khairatabad, Nampally, Shaikpet, Golconda and Himayatnagar, apart from LB Nagar, Kukatpally and Alwal too reported strong showers.
With the showers, the temperature in the city also came down with the maximum temperature at 6 pm on Saturday being 27.4 degree Celsius, whereas the minimum temperature recorded was 24 degree Celsius.
According to the forecast by Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Hyderabad will continue to receive light to moderate thundershowers at isolated places for the next three days. The maximum temperature in the city during the period is expected to be between 32 and 34 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be in the range 23 to 25 degree Celsius.
A few districts of Telangana recorded light to moderate rainfall. Sujathanagar in Bhadradri Kothagudem received the highest rainfall of 45 mm on Saturday.
