Hyderabad, Sept 5 (Hydnow) Heavy rains created havoc, especially in Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, and Sheikhpet areas. The low-lying areas all over Hyderabad were flooded.

Heavy rain is falling in Greater Hyderabad. the highest rainfall of 14.7 cm was recorded in Miyapur, 14.3 cm in Kukatpally, 13 cm in Sivarampalli, and 12.5 cm in the area of Gajula. 12.1 cm in Jedimetla, 12 cm in shahpur, Moosapet, Jubilee Hills, 11.5 cm in Quthbullapur, 11.4 cm in Madhapur, 11.2 cm in Secunderabad, Rajendranagar, 10 cm in Begumpet, KPHB, alwal, Serilingampally, 9.9 cm in Mushirabad, 9.5 cm in Goshamahal, 9.4 cm in Malakpet, 9.2 cm in Caravan, 7.9 cm in Saroornagar, 6.6 cm in LB Nagar, Amberpet, 4.7 cm in Malkajgiri, Maulali.

Many slums in the city have suffered due to rain. Rainwater has entered the houses in many slums. Heavy rain water stood at Lingampally underpass. There were difficulties in transportation. Flood waters are overflowing in many areas. The GHMC Commissioner appealed to the people to be alert in the event of heavy rains.

The water is being released downstream through Osman Sagar gates. 442 cusecs of water are being released into the Musi river through two gates. Meanwhile in Rajendranagar, Narsinghi, Balaji Nagar Colony of Rangareddy district, the flood water is reaching the houses due to the heavy rain. Narsinghi municipal officials were informed to remove the flood water immediately. However, so far the authorities have not responded. (Hydnow)
