Hyderabad, June 22 (Hydnow): Finance Minister T Harish Rao today expressed displeasure at the bankers meeting over complaints by farmers on Rythu Bandhu financial support.
The Finance Minister called an emergency meeting with top bankers at BRKR Bhavan here with chief secretary Somesh Kumar, finance principal secretary Ramkrishna Rao and others.
He instructed the bank officers at state level to ensure delivery of amount under Rythu Bandhu financial support program. There are several complaints that the some bankers are taking loan amount of the farmers from Rythu Bandhu funds of financial support. It is not correct to do that and the banks should return money if they have taken from this scheme he directed. The chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has slammed the bankers and instructed the minister for an emergency meeting he said.
As per KCR Government instructions the banks should give back amount at village and district level Harish Rao said. He said that the government is offering this amount towards immediate assistance for crops to be sown. The bankers cannot take that amount and prepare for loan renewal, disbursement of fresh loans he instructed. The bankers should direct their village level staff not to recover that amount and return if taken he said.
Reacting to the instructions from the government the bankers said that they never offered any directions to recover funds from the Rythu Bandhu scheme. We will ask the local bankers to ensure this amount of Rythu Bandhu paid to the farmers the bankers informed.
