Hyderabad, Oct.30 (Hydnow): Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao today assured that the government will purchase last crop of cotton in the state.
He started a purchase centre on Yenumamula Makret in Warangal district here.
On the occasion the minister has promised that the farmers are needless to worry of their crops like cotton and others. He instructed the officials concerned to coordinate to purchase cotton or other crops as and when required. There is no need of panic for the farmers who should avoid fear of their farm produce.
The previous Warangal district has produced more crop of cotton this year compared to last year, he said. We have set up 28 purchase centers in the district to procure cotton against 18 last year he informed.
This year we got high cotton produce in 7,58,560 acres while it was expected to get around 6.25 lakh metric tons.
Warangal urban district is major contributor for the cotton produce in the district he said. The minister also said that 24 cold storages space is available to preserve 19 lakh metric tons of cotton. He urged the farmers to get quality cotton as per CCI norms to the market and get minimum support prices. (Hydnow)
