Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar came down heavily on BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar for not attending Telangana Formation Day celebrations.
“Where is the local MP Sanjay? Does he not having responsibility? This is not a party programme. It is an official programme. The MP has humiliated the people of Telangana by staying away from the celebrations, and should apologise to the people of the State,” the Minister said, participating in the State formation day celebrations held at the collectorate auditorium here.
Kamalakar also flayed opposition Congress for not participating in the State formation day event. “Congress fought for the independence of the country, and all sections of society celebrate Independence day and Republic day on a grand scale. Congress leaders, however, are staying away from Telangana formation day celebrations. Bother Congress and BJP leaders are not happy with the formation of separate Telangana State,” he said.
Stating that the opposition parties were unable to digest the developmental taking place in the State as well as supply of water to agricultural fields through Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, he said though procurement of paddy was completed, opposition leaders were still making the rounds of paddy purchasing centres.
Statehood for Telangana was achieved only because of relentless agitation waged by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he said, adding that Telangana would have been another Somalia if it had not achieved Statehood.
Chandrasekhar Rao, he said, is a boon to the people of the State, and his name would forever be etched in history. “The Chief Minister developed the State a lot during the last six years. The fruits of development are being experienced by the people,” he said.
When he was elected as MLA in 2009, legislatures used to come assembly sessions along with dried paddy, maize and cotton saplings. However, a lot of changes have been taken place during the last six years. Tealngana has reached to a position to provide food to the entire country.
Two years ago, only 20 lakh metric tons of paddy was procured. However, three times high of 65 lakh metric tons of paddy was purchased this year.
