Hyderabad: An under-construction building at Bahadurpura, Hyderabad, has tilted to one side, causing panic and fear among local residents. The four-storied building structure started tilting four days ago after some work was carried out in the cellar. The situation further deteriorated on Saturday night when it leaned onto an adjacent, which lacked any setback space.
Local residents noticed the gap widening between a partially constructed building and the adjoining building. They contracted their local corporator, who informed the GHMC and the local police.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and enforcement and vigilance teams promptly visited the site on Sunday. Concerned about the safety of Nearby residents, they urged them, to vacate the area. Many citizens have sought refuge in the homes of their relatives, community halls, and nearby temples.
The police barricaded the nearby area around the building and policemen took over the charge to prevent anyone from venturing near the spot.
GHMC Officials have assessed the structural ability of the building and concluded that it has significantly weakened. As a result, plan for its demolition process as soon as possible. To ensure the safety of surrounding structures, arrangements are being made to employ cranes for a controlled and damage-free demolition operation.
Reportedly, the building owners attempted to rectify the tilting issue by deploying hydraulic jacks, but their efforts proved unsuccessful. Consequently, the demolition is scheduled to commence on Monday.
