Srinagar/Hyderabad, Nov 17 (Hydnow): In Jammu-Kashmir once again the sound of firing rang out. A large encounter between terrorists and security forces took place in Kulgam district here. A total of five terrorists were killed in this incident.
Officials have identified the dead as belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba. According to the police, the security forces conducted local checks on Thursday night after receiving information that terrorists were hiding in the area of Kulgam.
In this connection, the terrorists opened fire and the security forces retaliated. However, as darkness fell, the operation was suspended amid armed surveillance. Again, on the second day, early morning on Friday, the two sides exchanged fire. Officials revealed that five terrorists were killed in this encounter which lasted for 18 hours, They said that the house where the terrorists were hiding got burnt due to the fire and they all came out.
On the other hand, security personnel were alerted after suspicious movements were seen in Poonch district along the border with Pakistan. Inspections have intensified in this order. Earlier, it was known that the security forces killed the key terrorist and launched commander Bashir Ahmed Malik in the Uri sector. Officials said Malik and another terrorist were killed in a joint operation by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police along the Line of Control under the name ‘Operation Kali.’ (Hydnow)
