On the occasion of International Elderly Day, the elderly were felicitated at Panwara Hall in the GHMC headquarters by Election Icon Smt. Amala, Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj, GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, and Zonal Commissioner Venkatesh Dotre.

On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, GHMC will provide the facility of postal ballot through Election Commission of India Form 12 at home for senior citizens above eighty years of age to participate in voting in the upcoming elections. Apart from this, Ramp, wheelchair, and lighting facilities will be provided at the polling centers, Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said. Toilet facilities are being provided at the polling location.

Polling stations will be allotted based on the house number in the final voter list. Elderly people must check their name in the electoral beforehand and take the cooperate of the booth-level officials. They want to keep the phone numbers of BLOs error-free by painting at the polling stations.

Elderly people want to take action in their communities to achieve 100% voting.

Electoral icon Amala wished everyone on International Day of Older Persons and said India is the largest democracy. All people must exercise their right to vote.

On election day, my entire family will reach the polling center within the first hour and exercise their right to vote. As an election icon, the voter will work hard in registering and exercising his right to vote.

Hyderabad District Election Officer Ronald Rose said that they want to check if their name is on the electronic roll through the voter recheck program.

They want to check in which polling station their name is registered. Voters should resolve their doubts through Voter Help Line 1950.

This year, especially for the elderly, they want to use the facility of voting by postal ballot through Form 12 directly at home.

Auto, wheelchairs, ramp attendants, and facilities are being provided at the polling centers. 115 daycare centers have been set up across the city for the elderly. Elderly people should take extensive measures for voter registration through these centers.

Senior citizens said that a polling center should be established near the elderly.

A pamphlet was released on the occasion to create awareness about the right to vote. On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, the elderly were honored.
