Hyderabad, June 14 (Hydnow): With a view to dovetailing MGNREGS works with Irrigation and Panchayat Raj works, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar conducted meeting of Irrigation and Panchayat raj officials on taking up desiltation of canals and construction of feeder channels under NREGS at BRKR Bhavan. He asked the officials to focus on wage component and labour intensive works over the next thirty days which would not only provide much needed employment but also money in the hands of rural poor, an official statement here said.
The officials were told to identify as many works which would be beneficial to the villagers and farmers of the state. All the desilting works in major, medium and minor projects, including check dams can
be taken up immediately, he said. Canal repairs and field channel works can also be taken up. He said that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has immense confidence in the irrigation department and hoped that they would live up to his expectations.

A one day video conference followed by a training session will be held shortly to sensitize the field level engineers about the works to be taken up in their respective areas. (Hydnow)
