Hyderabad, Sept.19 (Maxim News): AICC Incharge for Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Manickam Tagore on Saturday urged the party leaders to adopt a constituency-centric approach in order to win next Assembly elections in 2023.
Manickam Tagore, along with TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, had a video-conference through Zoom App with AICC Secretaries, contested candidates of Lok Sabha, former ministers and other senior leaders on Saturday. CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC Secretaries N.S. Bose Raju and Sreenivasan Krishnan, TPCC Working Presidents Ponnam Prabhakar and J. Kusum Kumar, former Union Minister Renuka Chowdhary, former ministers Dr. J. Geetha Reddy, R. Damodar Reddy, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, AICC Spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Sravan, contested candidates including Mallu Ravi, R. Damodar Reddy, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Feroz Khan, Madan Mohan, Gaddam Vinod, Konda Visveshwar Reddy and S. Chandrashekhar participated in the meeting.
TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy introduced the leaders to Manickam Tagore and said that it was the second meeting to facilitate interaction between senior leaders with the new AICC Incharge. He informed that a few more meetings, through video-conference, would be held in the coming days to complete the formal introduction of all leaders and take their views and suggestions on strengthening the Congress party. He said that Manickam Tagore would visit Hyderabad in the first week of October after the end of Parliament session. In his opening remarks, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the agenda for the meeting was to discuss Membership Drive, Dubbak by-elections, elections for GHMC, Warangal & Khammam Corporations and elections for two Graduates constituencies of Nalgonda-Warangal-Khammam & Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy & Mahabubnagar.
The meeting lasted for nearly three hours wherein all senior leaders expressed their views on the strategy to be adopted to strengthen the party in Telangana so as to win the next Assembly elections. They also alleged that Congress leaders and workers were being harassed by the police in the respective areas. Despite harassment, the entire Congress cadre has been fighting against the anti-people policies of KCR Govt.
Summarising the discussions, Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that incharges for Dubbaka Town, Mandals and all 146 villages would be finalised soon. He welcomed the views expressed by all senior leaders and said that Manickam Tagore’s interaction with the senior leaders has increased the level of enthusiasm in the entire party.
In his concluding remarks, Manickam Tagore said that the Congress party would adopt a micro-level strategy by adopting a constituency centric approach. He said that the main objective of the Congress party should be to get a majority of votes in each of 34,360 polling booths in 2023 Assembly elections. He said that the Congress party doesn’t differentiate between seniors and juniors and it always values seniors by involving them in all decision making processes. “We are not out of the game. We must fight the battle with the right perception. There should be continuous communication between all leaders. Winning each booth is important and it can be achieved through booth-centric work, cadre building and discipline. Although we are a national party, we must think regionally,” he said.
Tagore said that the Congress party granted statehood for Telangana. However, people did not gain anything from the new State as only one family has been taking away the entire wealth of Telangana. This should be exposed to gain people’s support. (Hydnow)
